But I’m a former English major and I’m a stickler for details and that “One” in OTP is important to me. Some people are missing the key word in “OTP”: One. People will ship a pairing and call it an OTP, regardless whether it fits the definition for OTP or not. ![]() But what I’ve been seeing a lot of is these terms being used interchangeably. These are the definitions and this is how I understand and define those terms for myself so that’s all handy dandy. Ship: N: Short for romantic relationship, popularized in fanfiction circles. Meaning the your favorite combination of characters in a fandom. So I went to urban dictionary, as you do, and pulled the TOP definition of each term. ![]() And all judgement aside, I wanted to get into what the standard and common fandom definitions of these terms actually are.
